Terms of Use

All 2012 Greater & Greener: Re-Imagining Parks for 21st Century Cities Conference Policies and Terms of Registration are adopted in consideration of, and in the best interest of attendees and other participants (“participants”) of the 2012 Greater & Greener: Re-Imagining Parks for 21st Century Cities Conference and related events (the “Conference”), City Parks Alliance (“CPA”), and the Conference host facilities.

CPA and other sponsors of the Conference claim no liability for the acts of any exhibitors at or for the Conference, or for the safety of any participant while in transit to or from this event. CPA and other sponsors of the Conference shall not be liable for any delays or failure in performance, loss of business income or leads, or interruptions of services resulting directly or indirectly from any cause or circumstance beyond the reasonable control of such organization including but not limited to acts of God; acts of public enemy; war; accident; fires; electrical, mechanical, or structural failures or breakdowns; strikes, labor disputes; postal delays; explosions; or governmental order or regulations.

CPA reserves the right to cancel this function without penalty. Participants who purchase non-refundable airline tickets do so at their own risk. The total amount of any liability of CPA and/or sponsors will be limited to a refund of paid fees.

No alcohol will be served to anyone under the age of 21. Conference participants are responsible for their own well being and neither CPA and/or sponsors will be held accountable for any events or occurrences resulting from excessive drinking, recklessness, or negligence on the part of any conference participant. Participants in the Conference, under the terms of registration, agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CPA and the other sponsors, to include officers, employees, and agents, from and against any and all liabilities, loss, claims, expense, actions, or causes of action arising out of or resulting from any act taken or committed by such participant. Participant substitutions are subject to pre-approval by City Parks Alliance.

The Conference is a unique experience taking place in a variety of locations in New York City. The educational center is at New York University’s Helen and Martin Kimmel Center for University Life, 60 Washington Square South, New York, NY. Conference participants must adhere to all Policies, Procedures and Guidelines for the Use of University Facilities (detailed guidelines at http://www.nyu.edu/life/resources-and-services/kimmel-center/policies-procedures.html). Of note, but not limited to:

No one under 18 years of age is admitted to the Kimmel Center unless they are an NYU student or they are accompanied by a parent, guardian, an NYU ID holder or have special permission from Kimmel Operations.

Guests of Conference registrants may attend receptions of the Conference (Opening and Closing Receptions and the Special Evening at Brooklyn Bridge Park) as well as weekend tours for additional fees. Guest fees should be added to Conference Registrant’s registration form. Guests may also attend the Volunteer Day at no cost but are required to pre-register. Guests and spouses are not permitted to attend Conference-related sessions or mobile workshops, unless registered for the Conference.

Cancellations must be submitted in writing no later than 5 p.m. EDT on June 15, 2012 in order to obtain a refund of paid fees, minus a cancellation fee of 25% of your total conference cost. Membership fees are non-refundable. No refunds will be issued if a request is emailed or postmarked after June 15, 2012.

Registration forms submitted without providing a method of payment will be considered incomplete and such registrant will not be able to attend the Conference until payment has been made. CPA accepts Checks, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express as forms of payment.

Registration form(s) or a copy of the online confirmation must accompany all purchase orders. Registrant will need to provide CPA with a valid Purchase Order number and a copy of the Purchase Order in order to process registration. CPA has the right to contact the company or agency issuing the purchase order to confirm its validity.

Any photos or videos taken during the Conference may be used by CPA for promotional use (i.e. brochures, CPA publications, web-based mediums — blogs, websites, e-newsletters). Participants are reminded that their consent is a condition of registration for the Conference. No cameras are permitted in any NYU building without express written permission from CPA.

For the comfort and health of all participants, smoking is not permitted at the Conference. This includes general sessions, concurrent sessions, mobile tours, luncheons, and receptions. Smoking is neither permitted in New York City Parks nor NYU premises. Participants should adhere to any signage preventing or authorizing smoking in certain locations.

Due to the nature of the CPA conference, children under the age of 18 are not permitted access to CPA education sessions, meals, or social events. Additionally, no one under the age of 21 will be served alcohol at CPA events, and participants may be asked to produce identification to confirm your age. Parents traveling with small infants, please make all necessary arrangements so that you are able to fully participate in the CPA conference programs. To obtain advance information on local support services, we recommend you contact your hotel’s front desk or concierge, and inquire directly for assistance and information.

As a courtesy to our speakers, please refrain from the use of pagers or cell phones during presentations. And, please keep in mind that participants of this conference are in attendance to learn. Therefore, in consideration of all participants, we ask that you please take any conversations that are unrelated to the program outside session rooms.
