Dart Westphal

Bronx Council for Environmental Quality

Dart Westphal is a Senior Associate with the Support Center for Nonprofit Management.

He built playgrounds and gardens for the South Bronx Open Space Task Force, before directing the West Tremont/Kingsbridge Neighborhood Preservation Office of the NYC Department of HPD.

From 1987 until 2010 Mr. Westphal ran Mosholu Preservation Corp., a Bronx community development organization, spearheading the historic preservation of a 19th century reservoir building, starting a Business Improvement District and founding the Norwood News.

Mr. Westphal has worked to ensure open space is always part of community development co-founding the Bronx Parks Speak Up, The Tour de Bronx, The Bronx River Alliance and the Bronx Greenway Plan.

He served the Boards of the Bronx Council on the Arts, Bronx Center, Bronx Council for Environmental Quality (President), NYC Clean Water CAC, Croton CAC, Bronx Tourism Council, Friends of Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx River Alliance (Chair), Harlem River Working Group.
